DHANGADHI: Amid conflicting reports about the number of casualties, the Far-Western Regional Police Office (FWRPO) claimed on Monday evening that only eight persons —  seven security personnel and a two-year-old son of one of the personnel– were killed in Tikapur of Kailali district after violent clashes broke out between the security personnel and supporters of Tharuhat movement.

Earlier, it was reported that at least 20 people, including 17 police personnel and three protestors, lost their lives at the incident in Silam Chauraha of Munuwa VDC of Kailai.
